Tentative Schedule

Wednesday  March 12, 2008

Leave Port Columbus (we will have three travel groups.  Going down, two groups have the same itinerary.  Going home, there are three different itineraries).   After arrival in the DR we will take the 1/2 hour bus ride to the SCORE complex.  We'll unpack and have our orientation and dinner.  We will have our evening time on the beach.

Thursday  March 13, 2008

We will begin the day with breakfast and then travel to an orphanage to do ministry and have a medical clinic.  Free time in the afternoon -- the beach, the pool, a nap . . .  And, hopefully, streaming video of State Semi-finals on www.ohiohssports.com

Friday  March 14, 2008

We will break up into three different groups, and head in different directions for ministry.  One group will go to an orphanage, another to a school in a sugarcane village, and yet another to take food to families in a village.

Saturday  March 15, 2008

We will take a bus ride to La Romana, then a boat to Catalina Island.  There we will enjoy snorkeling, swimming, a beautiful white sand beach and an outdoor buffet lunch.  There will be plenty of time to relax back at the SCORE complex in the evening while you apply copious amounts of sunburn medication to your burnt bodies.

Sunday  March 16, 2008

We will worship in a Dominican church service, then return to the SCORE complex for lunch.  Training will take place for the medical mission.  Those not involved will be able to practice and prepare for their areas of ministry.  There will plenty of time to enjoy the beach, take a horseback ride, relax around the pool and hang out with friends.  Tonight, those wishing to do so, may eat dinner in one of the local restaurants (accompanied by a jovial chaperone.)

Monday  March 17, 2008

Again, we will go off in many directions.  We will have a medical clinic that lasts all day.  Other groups will go to a school in a sugarcane village.  Another group will take food to a village.   

Tuesday  March 18, 2008

We will return to Santo Domingo for a visit to the Straw Market and a few points-of-interest.  This is the chance to do some shopping and get some souvenirs  or purchase a gift for those who gave you money toward your trip.  Those on the medical team will stay behind and do another day of clinic.  Tonight will be another opportunity to eat dinner in a local restaurant.

The dreaded flight back home where we will once again embrace the cold and snow of Central Ohio.  Warning:  Sometimes we have had major travel interruptions.  It may not be wise to schedule an Easter weekend flight out of CMH for early Thursday morning. Good news!  You don't have to go to school on Thursday.
